It also has a section of Printed Matter, comprising 23,887 volumes from the 16th to the 19th centuries. Of particular value is the remarkable section of Papers, containing 4.000 booklets from the 18th and 19th centuries, mainly referring to the life of the university itself and 502 documents printed in Valladolid from the 16th to the 19th centuries. Together, they form one of the largest collections of documents to be found in any Spanish university. It is well organized and is at the disposal of researchers from all over the world with the help of the latest technology. The Santa Cruz library is not only the depositary of the historical memory of the University of Valladolid, but is also a dynamic institution, reflecting the respect this age-old institution holds for science and tradition. Join us for the visit to the Historic Library. Visits will begin at 17:30 in small groups of about 25 persons.
As it will developed in small groups, the visit to the Historic Library is simultaneous to a guided visit to the Museum of African Art Jiménez-Arellano Alonso (UVA). The museum belongs to the non-profit organization Alberto Jiménez-Arellano Alonso, enrolled in the framework of University of Valladolid, and whose essential aim is to promote arts. It also has the headquarter in the Palacio de Santa Cruz of Valladolid. His three galleries are dedicated to African art. Two of them have collections of African terracotta and the other one is home to the exposition of Oku Kingdom, a place located in Cameroon.

22:00 GUIDED NIGHT TOUR “RÍOS DE LUZ” (RIVERS OF LIGHT)
In this light walk tour you will know the historic center of Valladolid when the city dresses up in the evening, understanding why it won the prize for the best illuminated city in the world.
The buildings that are part of this route are illuminated of a color or another according to a symbology:
The bluish green includes the layout of areas through which the River Esgueva passed in the past.

Imperial red is used for buildings of cultural uses.

For temples and churches, color varies according to the liturgical calendar.

Purple: in the time of Advent, Lent and Day of the Dead.

White: during Easter, Christmas and holidays.

Red: on Palm Sunday, Good Friday, Pentecost, Apostles and Holy Martyrs

Green: In times that included within the previous dates, this will be the predominant color.
The Ríos de Luz runs through the main monuments, squares and avenues of the city center. During the walk we will see the Plaza Mayor, the Academy of Cavalry, Villena Palace, Pimentel Palace, University Square, Pasaje Gutiérrez, Fabio Nelli Palace, Teatro Calderón, Casa del Sol, San Gregorio, the Cathedral, the Old City, San Pablo and many other points of interest.

18:30 SOCIAL DINNER
The Gala Dinner of the OLKC 2017 will take place the 27th April and will be held in the "Crossroad winery El Hilo de Ariadna".
This Winery belongs to Grupo Yllera and is located in Villa de Rueda (at 40 km from Valladolid), a village which has a great viticulture tradition and home of a high number of wineries that have been lost due to abandonment or collapse. Specifically, in the Crossroad Winery "El Hilo de Ariadna" grupo Yllera has gathered art, culture, history, mythology and wine through a beautiful analogy between the known myth Minotaur and the wine World, through the intricate crossroad of wineries that go through the depths of Villa de Rueda. Across 10 rooms they relate an episode or a myth character to each of their wines.
Before the Gala Dinner takes place, our congresspersons could enjoy a tour through the underground wineries that actually form the labyrinth where the minotaur anclosed the princess Ariadna.
Right after the wineries visit, the actual dinner will take place in the fabolus Mudejar dinning-room & barrels room.
